Essential Oils For Relaxation

As a highly creative person whose mind is constantly buzzing with ideas, I’ve always had a lot of difficulty getting to sleep at night. (Admittedly, my trouble with getting adequate rest might also have something to do with being a worrier…)

Lately, I’ve been putting essential oils in a diffuser in my bedroom at night in order to help me relax. Most people’s go-to EO for relaxation and sleep aid is Lavender – but personally, I can’t stand the smell! There are, however, several other essential oils that are known for helping with stress reduction and relaxation. Some such oils are Juniper Berry, Sweet Orange, Vetiver, Bergamot, and Sandalwood.

One EO that I’ve found most helpful in getting to sleep is Serenity by doTERRA. This blend has a soft, powdery scent that is slightly floral and has been incredibly effective at quieting my mind on those nights when homeopathy and my eye mask just aren’t doing the trick. It was surprising to discover that this EO has Lavender in it because I can’t get enough of the scent! I loved the smell of this essential oil so much, I added a few drops to an unscented body lotion so I can carry it around in my purse and use it on my hands throughout the day.
